Evidence of X-Ray Plateaus Driven by the Magnetar Spindown Winds in Gamma-Ray Burst Afterglows

چکیده

Abstract The central engine of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) remains an open and cutting-edge topic in the era multimessenger astrophysics. X-ray plateaus appear some GRB afterglows, which are widely considered to originate from spindown magnetars. According stable magnetar scenario GRBs, plateau a decay phase ∼ t −2 should afterglows. Meanwhile, “normal” afterglow is produced by external shock fireball. We analyze Neil Gehrels Swift data, then find three gold samples that have superimposed on jet-driven normal component. Based these features lightcurves, we argue magnetars be engines GRBs. Future joint observations might further test this possibility, can beneficial constrain physics.

Gamma-Ray Burst Afterglows

Extended, fading emissions in multi-wavelength are observed following Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). Recent broadband observational campaigns led by the Swift Observatory reveal rich features of these GRB afterglows. Here we review the latest observational progress and discuss the theoretical implications for understanding the central engine, composition, and geometric configuration of GRB jets, as w...

Gamma-Ray Burst Early Afterglows

The successful launch and operation of NASA’s Swift Gamma-Ray Burst Explorer open a new era for the multi-wavelength study of the very early afterglow phase of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). GRB early afterglow information is essential to explore the unknown physical composition of GRB jets, the link between the prompt γ-ray emission and the afterglow emission, the GRB central engine activity, as wel...

Pulsed Gamma-Ray-Burst Afterglows

The bipolarity of Supernova 1987A can be understood in terms of its very early light curve as observed from the CTIO 0.4-m telescope, as well as the IUE FES, and the slightly later speckle observations of the “Mystery Spot” by two groups. These observations imply a highly directional beam of light and jet of particles, with initial collimation factors in excess of 104, velocities in excess of 0...

X-ray Afterglows of Gamma-ray Bursts

The afterglow emission has become the main stream of Gamma-Ray burst research since its discovery three years ago. With the distance-scale enigma solved, the study of the late-time GRB emission is now the most promising approach to disclose the origin of these explosions and their relationship with the environment of the host galaxy in the early phase of the Universe. In this contribution I wil...

Evidence for Supernova light in all Gamma-Ray Burst afterglows

We present an update of our systematic analysis of all Gamma-Ray Burst (GRB) afterglow data, now published through the end of 2004, in an attempt to detect the predicted supernova light component. We fit the observed photometric light curves as the sum of an afterglow, an underlying host galaxy, and a supernova component. The latter is modeled using published UBV RI light curves of SN 1998bw as...
